It was one sunny winters midweek day last year in late October when we decided to drive out of the hustle and bustle of Barcelona city for a few hours to enjoy the seaside for a quick lunch with a couple of my old lovely school friends Monica and Sonia before my flight back 24 hrs later.
Sitting in the busy terrace of Castelldefels sailing club enjoying the warm sun rays on the skin, sipping a delicious gazpacho ( cold tomato soup) with a cold beer, beautiful sounds of Spanish classical guitar music was filling up the atmosphere. Stressed out waiters were running around with plates empty and others with hot food ready to be served and sailing boats at a distance were creating a picture perfect scene. Neighbouring tables were busy chatting work gossip mixed with laughter, whilst we were having a good catch up on our lives giving each other advice on our life trials and tribulations and reminiscing on our school days-proud to say we’ve been friends since we were 8 years old!

The coffee came round, which was sadly a sign we needed to head back to the city, but then Monica suddenly suggested i took some long time promised portraits of her, and she wasn’t going to let me go back to the uk without having some pictures taken 😂 - i hesitated saying I didn’t have my camera and it was the wrong time of the day but to Monicas insistence i agreed to improvise with my cell phone!
We stepped out of the restaurant and before the car park meter finished, we ran to the beach! I threw my sunglasses at her and said ‘ try these on ‘ after 10 minutes improvised photoshoot with no prior hair and make up ‘ here are the results with a lot of laughter, what do you think ?

Monica is an amazing mother who has brought up her two boys on her own. Also a very talented textile designer for many Spanish clothing brands such as Zara, Mango, Massimo Dutti. No matter how life has been ever so tough in the last few years, she still has an amazing positive energy and outlook on life which is so inspiring as you can see in the pictures ♥️
